  16. Is it really 20 years? There was a little rumble back then and I wrote telling you how wonderful you were and all would pass… Pass it did as time does and I’m much older but I couldn’t be wiser because I KNEW what I was seeing and right I was. Letters were written and you kindly responded by mail thanking me for thinking you were so UPBEAT. I NEVER stopped watching Channel 12 because of you. CONGRATULATIONS and more years to go.

    Hi Karen,

Just want to congratulate you and wish you many more years on channel 12. You are a breath of fresh air every evening at 11:00. I never go to bed without watching. I especially enjoy the fact that you look like you care when stories are sad and you laugh when they are upbeat.

You came to our school in Lincoln to help us for our pie auction. That was just one of the many things you do all year for so many charities.

    Thank you for being you!
    Roberta

  24. Pam Wamester says:

Congratulations Karen! Rhode Islanders and residents in near-by Mass. communities are fortunate to hear the news you deliver. It is evident that you love your position as news anchor at WPRI. You deliver the news with compassion. I love the dialog with the other newscaster.
I can’t remember when I met you, probably in the 90’s. You were always willing to be the commentator at a fundraiser/fashion show. Thank you for all you do for our community. You are a role model and have touched the lives of so many, forever!

  31. Stacy Davis says:

My family and I would like to say “Congratulation” on your awesome 20 years of service with WPRI and all the people and places you have touched with your kindness and heartfelt love. Your hairstyles have changed throughout the years and thats ok, your hair does not define the person you are, and the person we have come to love. We wish you many more years with “us” here in RI and I hope that the committy that votes for the employee of the month gives you the parking space for at least a year. (LOL)

  32. Karen Adams says:

LOL on the parking space – you know that will never happen. I’ll still be parking in the “satellite” lot
till my last broadcast day. Thanks for the kind message.

  33. Karen Adams says:

Hi Lauren, Thanks for the shout out. We all work together to try to carve the stories down to
where they make sense and yet truthfully convey the events or information.

  34. Karen Adams says:

Eleven? See that information always gets me. So now you are 31 and that makes me, hmmmmm 39.
Sure, just kidding about that. I remember when I addressed the Lincoln graduates and how much
I enjoyed the class. I hope I make it another 20 years – which would make you 51 and me, oh 49.
    LOL

  35. Karen Adams says:

    I’m blushing but smiling.

  36. Karen Adams says:

Dr. Cav – that is so very kind and thoughtful. Thank you for taking the time to send
    that sweet, sweet message.

  37. Karen Adams says:

Hi Roberta, I remember the pie auction. I’m always impressed when parents turn out at school
events to support their children, the school and the teachers and staff. As I recall, you had
a really good crowd that night. Thanks for the kind words.

  38. Karen Adams says:

Thanks Danny – We need as many fans as we can gather!

  39. Karen Adams says:

    Hi Steve,
I remember – we made it just in time. If I had been walking back to the car, I would have been drenched.
As you know, I love the CVS Classic – it’s such a great opportunity to see world class golfers up close. An added
bonus for me is getting to play in the pro-am on the Sunday before the tourney.

  40. Claire says:

    Dear Karen,

Congratulations! You deserve the very best. Are you still working with John Miller? He is a long time family friend and former fiance to my sister. Well Karen, I grew up watching channel 12 and just adore you. Congrats again!

  41. You do it with class, Karen says:

There is always news and there are sometimes human interest stories with sensitive content. You and Walt handled my son’s story with gentle integrity when he took his life in 2001. When I opened a small lunch place as a memorial to him both of you were able to handle that story and it couldn’t have been easy. You did it with heart.

It was shown in two separate segments and drew many people who were dealing with their own silent shame. Many people, some who lived hours away came to my restaurant to meet with me and talk about their experience with this kind of shunned grief. The outpourings of emotion I was a witness to and identified with, was immeasurable. Good Job!

    Thank you! Happy anniversary. :)

    Joanne
