You are right that would be a lot of ice cream for just a 3-year-old. We actually have ice cream as a family on Fridays. So what I bought is several week's worth, not a year's worth. In fact, we still haven't used it all up. As for the space in my freezer - what I was getting at is that we don't have one of those big storage freezers - so we have to be careful about how much frozen food we buy. For instance, I bought 8 boxes of cereal today because I was able to get them for about $1 a box. I was able to stock up because I have a pantry in my basement. However, when buying frozen food items, we have to be more selective because of space.

In the previous blog you said to only buy what you use regularly and could store easily. You mentioned that you had only a normal size refrigerator/freezer yet you said this week that you bought three half gallons of ice cream of which you feed your 3 year old on Fridays. I don't know how much the kid eats but it would take my three year old a year to eat three half gallons. Those three half gallons would take up half the space in my "normal size" freezer and that doesn't seem worth the space it takes up. So are you are contradicting yourself a little or maybe your child isn't the only one eating ice cream?
