The climate debate goes on…and it’s reached a peak during the past few weeks with two huge pieces of news from the Obama Administration and the U.S. House of Representatives.
Recently the Obama Administration released a report on the global climate. Here’s the link: Globalchange.gov Barak Obama is a Democrat, and you can probably guess the slant the report takes, which is fine. And no, I’m not Republican…I’m registered as an Independent…so I’m unbiased here.
Here’s the main idea of the report for us…New England’s climate could become that of the Carolinas in the next 100 years! Here’s the section describing this: Northeast Climate Impacts. Judging by the weather over the past few weeks, you might not mind that.
We’re are slowly introducing solid foods to Charlie. It’s been both a funny and exciting experience… a little nerve-wracking at times, too, since I often feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. I’ve been getting lots of advice from family members and friends about how best to introduce new foods… but the one that makes the most sense to me is to start with the veggies. So here’s how Charlie’s menu expansion has gone: we started with rice cereal, which Charlie isn’t crazy about… tried oatmeal without much success… loved sweet potatoes and carrots and hated peas. Next food—avocado… I hear it’s full of goodness and often well-liked for little ones.

We’re also trying to determine where is the easist and least messy place to feed him. I’ve been trying to serve up his snacks in his bouncy seat, but he gets so excited that he kicks his legs and the seat bounces like crazy making it quite difficult to steer the spoon smoothly into his mouth. We also put together his high chair yesterday, but he looks so tiny in it… it just cracked us up!!
Did you see the picture of Kate Goselin supposedly spanking one of the sextuplets?
First of all, I feel bad for the lady… she’s chasing around 8 kids when her husband’s decided to take a subbatical from parenting and the limelight. I am sure she’s frazzled. Being chased by the papparazzi must fray your nerves. But is it appropriate for her to be spanking her daughter (apparently the girl was blowing a whistle when she was told not to)?
We talked about it on the Rhode Show this morning…. you can watch the clip here.
My brothers and I were spanked on rare occasion growing up… but more often than not, it was the threat of spankings that would really get our attention. I think an occasional light tap is ok… but I don’t agree with spanking or hitting that is done to cause pain or to take out your own aggression or frustration on your children. Any thoughts?
OK, so the 3.0 update for iPhone is scheduled for release TODAY. It is now after 9AM and no sign of the update! I got up at 5:30 this morning to get ready for work. The first thing I did was check for the update, but I was not surprised it was not there. But now I want my update!
I’ve heard the political turmoil in Iran referred to as a rally. That choice of word reminded me of a basketball ‘celebration’ at PC a few seasons ago.
The Friars had just won a tournament game. So, some of the overjoyed decided to burn a boat…break a few windows…hoot, holler, etc. As a student rushed past our live truck, I asked him where he was going.
I know the chances of this happening are like one in a gazillion, but it’s a fear of mine….being hit by a meteor. My very first post in my Weather and Science Blog talked about an asteroid coming pretty close to Earth back in the winter.
Well…a 14 year old boy in Germany was reportedly hit by a meteorite. Yes. A German boy was reportedly hit by a meteorite and lived!!

Charlie’s cold is back. In fact, it never quite went away. Poor little peanut is hacking up a lung and letting out the saddest sigh at the end of his coughing fits. We’re headed back to the doctor today.
I feel like a terrible mom. This poor kids been sounding like a pug for almost 3 weeks. But everytime I go to the doctor they tell me the same thing—His lungs sound good, his breathing’s fine and my only option is to make him as comfortable as possible by propping up one end of the crib, using a cool air humidifier, the nasal aspirator and saline drops. I can’t believe it’s 2009 and no one’s figured out a safe medicine to give babies when they’re under the weather. Grrrr!
