Musical at Trinity Rep
”Menopause the Musical” is now on stage at Trinity Rep – went press night (Wed 6/10) . I would say the audience was 90 percent female – probably no surprise there considering the subject matter – “Change, Change, Change – Change of Life” (of course sung to the tune of Chain of Love). What makes the show a lot more interesting is the parody of the big hits of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. Some examples “Stayin’ Alive” turns into “Stayin’ Awake” and ‘My Guy” becomes a song about “My Thighs.” Four women represent different walks of life: a soap star, a professional NY Career woman; an “earth” mother type (aging hippie sort with sandals and headband) and a sort of dowdy Iowa housewife in the Big Apple because her husband is there for a convention.
The audience (mostly women) roared as they recognize some of the symptoms of menopause include the “hot flashes” and “night sweats” and memory lapses. At the end of the show, the actors invite everyone on stage and a bunch of women jumped right out of their seats and danced on the boards. I had as much fun watching and hearing the audience react as I did watching the show.
Hi Karen,
I don’t know who to send an email to in regards to the license plate issue with selling Yankees plates in RI. so I thought I would go to you and hope you can pass this along to the right person.
My question is: Why should RI allow Yankees plates to be sold in RI when Mass. won’t let the Patriots plates be sold in the “New England” states that represent the NE Patriots. I am an avid Patriots fan and would love a Patriot plate. I watch and like the Red Sox but buying their plate would not interest me as much as getting a Patriots one. Isn’t there someone in politics that is a Patriots fan that can push for this like the lady pushing for the Yankee plate.
Thank you so much for listening.

Good point about the Patriots plates. Maybe if you lobby your state rep they could work on that. I heard Charlene Lima on Dan Yorke’s radio show this afternoon on my drive in. She said she had to jump through a lot of hoops to get the Yankees and Red Sox organizations to okay the license plate. But part of the agreement includes charitable donations.
I say if they can do it for baseball, why not football.
I’ll check on this on Monday – too late tonight to follow-up – but good question!
Any other ideas out there?
Thanks Karen,
I will be watching the news to see if we have a shot at those Patriot Plates
Good morning Karen,
I would like to comment on a diff. matter that resulted in Mr. White report last night of negligence on behalf of the DLT. I was outragged by the abuse of our tax dollars (not surpised) especially considering their professions. They sit in judgement of others, the hypocracy! The fact that they were suspending WITH PAY considering all the proof provided is unacceptable and completely outrageous! I would like to see further investigations on other government employeed individuals. I do not understand why they feel their above (law) following policies. There is no common respect for the struggling RIers. that are paying their salaries. That is why taxes are so high in the smallest state in the union with the largest population of theifies.
“OFF WITH THEIR HEADS”!
Thank you for providing us with this knowledge!
Please express my thanks to all your peers.
