Eye Of The Storm

October 21st, 2009 at 5:56 pm by Walt Buteau under General Talk

A softer side of rough and tumble Patriots’ defensive lineman Jarvis Green is the focus of this week’s Street Story.

He lost 8 family members during hurricane Katrina. Read that again. 8 family members!

“Some of them,” Green tells us, referring to how disorganized the recovery effort was. “We found six months later and they were deceased.”

He set up the Jarvis Green foundation right after the storm to help working, single mothers across the country.

“Because they were the most in need,” Green says.

He has a fundraiser in Providence on November 4th and all the money raised will go toward local single mothers who are working hard to support at least two children. Green says helping others is a tribute those 8 loved ones he lost.

“They’re definitely on my mind and always will be.”
