I can confirm that it is indeed extremely hot outsideJuly 22nd, 2011 at 2:33 pm by Ted Nesi under Nesi's Notes
Just ventured out of WPRI 12 world headquarters for the first time today, and yeah – wow. Even the National Weather Service calls this “oppressive humidity.”
It was 100 degrees at T.F. Green Airport at 2 p.m., according to the weather service. That ties the all-time record set in 1926. My colleague meteorologist Pete Mangione thinks we’ll probably break the record before the day is done.
The last time the temperature hit triple-digits here was July 6 last year, when the thermometer hit 102. The warmest day ever in Providence was Aug. 2, 1975, when it hit 104 degrees.

Update: Time to rewrite those record books. The temperature at T.F. Green hit 101 degrees at 3 p.m., setting a new all-time high for July 22.
