Watch Projo columnist Froma Harrop on ‘The Daily Show’

Veteran Providence Journal columnist Froma Harrop, in her capacity as president of the National Conference of Editorial Writers, got the “Daily Show” treatment last night from John Oliver – who apparently was right here in Providence at some point recently:

(I didn’t realize how fancy the Projo staff’s offices are.)

This is the third time The Journal and Rhode Island have provided fodder for Jon Stewart’s show lately, following the holiday tree debate and Stewart’s subsequent PolitiFact’ing.

Priceless. Typical Projo hypocrisy on display.

  2. Phrankie says:

    Wow.

The John Oliver satirical send-up interview of Froma Harrop is a must see-to-believe event. The woman’s sincerity for her political cause is indisputable.

Unless Ms. Harrop is the single greatest living actress in the word today, I challenge anyone to view the interview and then not conclude that she was completely oblivious to what the Daily Show producers were doing to her.

I think the gag worked so well because Ms. Harrop incorrectly assumed that she and Oliver were ideologically simpatico and were working toward the same objective. She was clearly wrong on this assumption. The real objective was to make her and people of her ilk look like clowns.
