Alan Sepe’s brother arrested for selling Prov’s signs for scrap

February 6th, 2012 at 1:46 pm by under Nesi's Notes

Providence Police are alleging Department of Public Works employee Gary Sepe sold 16 city signs that were worth $45 for just $15 to a scrap metal yard, Tim White reports. Sepe has worked for the city since September 1988.

Sepe’s brother, acting Director of Public Property Alan Sepe, has been working at Providence City Hall since July 1982 and got an $8,284 longevity bonus last year. The latter Sepe’s name surfaced during the Cianci investigation when he admitted lying to investigators because, he said, “I didn’t want to be a rat.”

An earlier version of this post incorrectly said each sign was worth $45 and sold for $15; they were worth $45 collectively and sold for $15 as a batch.

waiting for the day when Tim White follows a banker, or a CEO, or someone with power around to catch them in an act of malfeasance.

These dirtbags are public sector employees fish. You and your brethern better learn when a taxpayer asks you a question, you answer it. If you are found guilty of a crime I want you and your brethern put in with the people they deserve to be with the scum of the earth. You have no redeeming value as a human being to me. I will let a public sector employee die instead of giving them first aid.

Good observation – and completely true. The word is he brokered a deal with the Feds to keep his job in exchange for testifying against Cianci. Ask anyone at City Hall off-record and you’ll also find that Alan is an incompetent petty tyrant who uses his position for personal benefit. Stories abound about his antics with large city contractors. Contracts in exchange for gifts like golf clubs, etc. The Sepe who was caught used to walk around DPW like he was untouchable. And for a long, long time, he certainly was.
