Raimondo releases guide to pension law for workers, retirees
Whether you’re a state employee who’s still not sure what the new pension law does or an interested citizen who’d like to learn more, Treasurer Gina Raimondo’s office has got some light reading for you.
The treasurer’s office has just released “An Employee’s Guide to Understanding the Rhode Island Retirement Security Act,” a 32-page PDF that lays out the various changes made to Rhode Island’s state-run pension system in the law signed by Governor Chafee last fall.
Pensioners-to-be can use the guide “to plan for their future, such as the fact that there is no incentive to retire early and that benefits accrued as of June 30, 2012 are protected,” Raimondo said in a statement. Her office will release more material in the months to come.

Seems like a lot of work for something that’s against the LAW??
Protected benefits ???? Then why is there no COLA for at least 5 years, that’s been a benefit, oh wait, or a contractual obligation ?
