Raimondo: ‘Devastating’ impact on RI if pension law thrown out
By Tim White
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - General Treasurer Gina Raimondo says it would be “devastating” if the Rhode Island courts strike down the landmark pension reform legislation that was passed last year.

She should have thought of that before she pushed for unconstitutional and immoral stealing from working people. It will be devastating alright….to her political future.
How hard is it for you union trolls to get it? There.is.no.money. We all get it. You’re mad. You’re upset. I would be too if I were you but stop blasting the Gina Raimondos of the world and look to the people who supposedly have represented your interests over the last thirty years. Is George Nee’s retirement secure? I bet it is. How about Bob Walsh and Patrick Crowley? I bet they won’t be eating dogfood on the beach in Florida in 15 years either. How about all those legislators who passed all those bad deals in the past that you voted for? How are they doing? I bet they are fine too.
To repeat: There.is.no.money. This reform gets thrown out and the pension checks bounce. It’s that simple. If anyone tries to raise taxes enough to cover the shortfall there will be a true revolution in the streets. Your own “leadership” sold you out. Why don’t you go ask Mattie Smith to cut you a portion of his fat pension check every month to keep you off the streets?
There is plenty of money. We just keep giving it away to rich people. Now that sounds like common sense to me…giving away money to rich people. But sure, let’s keep doing things that have worked out so well for the state in the last 6 years……
Common Sense….not so much…
For some reason there seems to be a glitch that will not let me respond to “Mr. Fish” whose comment is actually below this, but this response is directed at him.
What I love about union trolls is how they either A. make sh-t up or B. blindly spout whatever nonsense their union leadership makes up and just expect people to believe it. Even more disturbing, they seem to believe it themselves. No, Mr. Fish, there is not “plenty of money”. You could tax “the rich” at 100% in this state and you still wouldn’t come close to raising enough money to pay off all the obligations to union trolls like yourself. I hope to he-l you are not a math teacher because your grasp of basic mathematics is sorely lacking.
Puke Fish you and your buddies have robbed the taxpayers blind. The cromies you support are looking out for themselves. As you know it is elections for national level. It will be 2 more years before they are up for election. You public sector pukes don’t matter, you were given more money than you are worth.
Might be best if it did. Let the whole system collapse and then do a reformat and reinstall of a new operating system.
If you let the whole system collapse, will the judges, and state police pensions be part of the collapse. After all Gina let those big pensions slide under the table in her pension reform.
Devastating impact to some political futures too, I suspect.
RAIMONDO HAS ALREADY HAD A DEVASTATING IMPACT ON A LOT OF FOLKS ON A FIXED INCOME AND THEIR FAMILIES!!
WHAT YOU REAP SO SHALL YOU SOW……..
Devasting?? WOW, and Ms. Raimondo took the chance anyway? Doesn’t sound like good policy to me, bet on the states future with the courts? Ms. Raimondo surly you wouldn’t bet on your families future why bet on the states?
