Curt Schilling on Facebook: ‘We will find a way … to endure’

Curt Schilling made a rare public comment about 38 Studios late Thursday on Facebook.

“To all the prayers and well wishes to the team and families at 38, God Bless and thank you!” Schilling wrote in a brief wall post around midnight posted from Medfield, Mass., where he lives. “We will find a way, and the strength, to endure.” 38 Studios has not returned requests for comment.

It was Schilling’s first Facebook post since Saturday, before news of the company’s possible insolvency broke. At this writing, the post has 59 comments and 188 “likes.” Speculation has been swirling about why the former Red Sox ace didn’t write a $1.125 million check himself, though it’s possible he doesn’t have the cash.

Update: Curt Schilling earlier posted another short message on Facebook, in response to this question from Keith Vahey: “What bothers me is that while you have said you put millions into starting 38 Studios the Providence media is reporting that you repaid yourself with the state money.”

“That is not true,” Schilling replied.

What Vahey may be hearing about is the revolving $4 million line of credit Schilling secured for 38 Studios back in July 2010, which a bond document WPRI.com obtained shows was repaid using the loan money. See this story for details. Schilling and 38 Studios have not responded to requests for comment.
