My WPRI 12 colleague Sean Daly caught up with Governor Chafee this morning and got his reaction to Curt Schilling’s Projo interview, where the former Sox ace blames Chafee for torpedoing 38 Studios:

At least we now know Chafee would vote to put Schilling in the Hall of Fame.

This story is from the AP on WJAR.com. This is why Rhode Island Government and the people of the state have to pull their heads out of their ass. They have to cut all benefits for municipal workers. Taxes and anti business regulation have to be elminated.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island’s unemployment rate for April remains the highest in New England and significantly above the regional average.

The New England office of the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics says the regional rate was 6.9 percent in April, compared to 11.2 percent for Rhode Island.

The national average in April was 8.1 percent.

Vermont and New Hampshire had rates of 4.6 percent and 5 percent, the fourth- and fifth-lowest in the country, respectively. Rhode Island’s rate is the second-highest, after Nevada, where the rate is 11.7 percent.

The rate in New England fell 1 percentage point over the year, and the national rate fell .9 percentage points. Rhode Island’s remained unchanged.

Officials say New England’s unemployment rate is at its lowest level since January 2009.

    What a lying scumbag.

  3. Ellaryn says:

*LOL* Chafee is contradicting himself the whole time!

  4. Karen says:

Is this for real? He doomed this company.

  5. It would seem to me that the EDC functions must be suspended immediately, and the existence of the commission reviewed as to its appropriateness.

The biggest question is why the EDC would approve this debacle as its Chairman Carcieri was leaving office?? Something does not make sense about this. Certainly it was not to appease its Chairman who was retiring. Then why?????
