Comfortable Today…Changes Friday

During the wee hours of our Thursday morning, it was still quite muggy here in Southern New England.  A cold front came through the region early this morning and the dewpoints dropped quickly.

The dewpoint is a measurement of the amount of moisture in the atmosphere.  It has its name because it is the temperature at which dew would form if the air was cooled.   We use the dewpoint frequently in the summer to tell you how uncomfortable the air is.  Typically, above 60 is considered humid.

We will be seeing some changes on Friday however.  Northerly winds will turn more southerly in the afternoon and the dewpoints will be climbing back through the 60′s through the afternoon, especially.  This will set the stage for a hot and quite humid day on Saturday.
