We Need Rain But no Drought For Now

You have probably already heard about the massive drought gripping much of the United States.  Just a few months ago, some of southern New England was in a drought, but we were rescued at the last minute by a rainy stretch of weather.  While we are not in a drought right now, we DO need some rain soon.  We have only received 0.25 inches of rain this month.  That is 0.89 inches below normal.  Some spots could get a good soaking on Sunday with some thunderstorms…but thunderstorms are often scattered which could leave some areas high and dry.  There is not a lot of rain in the 7 Day futurecast.

Below is the update from the US Drought Monitor.  The yellow does NOT indicate drought, but it does show the areas that are abnormally dry.  Notice that our area is OK for now.  Let’s hope we can get some rain in here soon so it stays that way. -Pete Mangione
