Thunderstorms Today

Thunderstorms this morning are bringing very heavy rainfall, gusty winds and frequent lightning. Unfortunately, they’re pushing through RI right in the heart of the morning commute, with localized street and poor drainage flooding.  Ease up on your gas pedal this morning if you’re driving through these storms.

The good news is that this first batch of t’storms will pass through by mid-morning with drier, brighter skies returning for mid-day.  There’s a chance for additional storms to fire up this afternoon and evening, though.  In fact, the storm prediction center in Norman, OK has placed southern New England under a slight risk for severe t’storms.  The biggest concern will be for flooding rains and strong winds.
