Preparing for Gemma’s ballyhooed press conference
Nobody knows exactly what Anthony Gemma will say at his noon press conference today, which is part of why Rhode Island’s political class is fairly riveted by the looming spectacle. The Democratic congressional candidate has already made clear it will involve allegations of voter fraud.
Tim White and I will be covering the event at Gemma’s Broad Street headquarters – watch our Twitter feeds – and WPRI will stream the announcement live on our website for those who want to see it for themselves. We’ll have reports on what transpired later in the day here on WPRI.com and on TV this evening.
Meanwhile, David Cicilline’s campaign released a new TV ad this morning – “America” – and sent an email to supporters accusing Gemma of “outrageous political stunts.” But Democrats aligned with the congressman are privately admitting they’re nervous about what his highly unconventional opponent is about to do.

What a joke
Please clarify what joke refers to. Is it the press conference, allegation, or Mr. Gemma himself? Are you using it as any umbrella term for all three?
Thanks.
