Tropical Storm Leslie..

Good Evening..

We continue to watch Tropical Storm Leslie with some interest. The storm expected to become a hurricane this week, as it moves slowly to the north and near Bermuda by this weekend. After that the storm makes its closest pass to New England (500 miles south and east of Nantucket) by Monday. While that is good news as far as wind and rain, very large swells and beach surf will build this week.

Below is one of the long range computer models we use. The concentric circles offshore show the forecast location of Leslie by Monday morning with respect to New England. Storm does bear watching this week to see if  the track shifts closer to our coast. However many of our long range computer guidance point to the storm turning out to sea.  Again the main concern for us will be increasing strong beach surf this week, strong rip currents, and for boaters, large swells offshore.……Tony Petrarca
