Quick Weather Changes Next Few Days

October 12th, 2012 at 11:13 am by under General Talk, Tony's Pinpoint Weather Blog

It’s going to be a whirlwind of weather changes over the next few days… from showers today, to the coldest night in 6 months, to near 70° in spots by Sunday and Monday!

A line of rain is making it’s way into RI at 11am, marking the leading edge of a much colder Canadian air mass.  Clouds and showers will move through into mid-afternoon.  Skies are expected to clear late day with gusty northwest winds ushering in the chilliest air we’ve seen so far this evening.  In fact, the last time we reached forecast lows down to 32° was on April 11, 2012… almost exactly 6months ago.

Lows Tonight

Gardeners and farmers will mark the end of the growing season tonight, as a killing freeze overspreads most areas…. even locations along the water and in downtown Providence will have a hard frost.  After the cold start Saturday morning… bright sunshine will bring afternoon temps on Saturday into the mid 50s, and it will be a nice Autumn afternoon.

Ready for more change?  A warm front will move in late Saturday night and early Sunday morning.  Clouds will thicken Saturday night and temperatures will only fall into the 40s for lows by Sunday morning.  An early morning shower and clouds on Sunday will mark the arrival of much milder air…. as temperatures Sunday afternoon climb to near 67.
