Chilly Night on the Way
We’ve been feeling the winds of change this morning, with northwest breezes gust up to 30mph at times. It’s a wind that’s driving in “relatively” cooler and drier. Our temperatures will top out a good 10-15° cooler than yesterday, but bright sunshine is making for a beautiful mid-October day.
The winds will diminish tonight and under clear skies and dry air, temperatures will fall quickly. We call that radiational cooling…. where there is nothing to “trap” the heat from the day and the warmth escapes into space as longwave radiation emissions. Here’s a sample of forecasted temperatures for overnight.
This should be the chilliest night of the week… as our overall trend over the next 5-7days will be for at, or slightly warmer-than average temperatures. Here’s the temperatures outlook through Oct 25.
