Sandy To Big Apple?
I am going to keep this update short but I wanted to show you the updated track from the National Hurricane Center. You can see it puts the center just south of New York City. Because the storm is so big, we could still see major impacts with this path including power outages and coastal flooding. It is important NOT to take this path literally, we need to get more data over the coming days before a final path can be determined. -Pete Mangione

How much of a lead time are you going to give so we can evacutate?
Sounds almost like when Irene came last year.
Again it appears the Rhode Island government at all levels is not prepared. That is why I mentioned evacutation.
Rich, thank you for the question. There are no mandatory evecuations in place right now. If you live in flood prone area, you should be prepared to evacuate quickly in case orders are issued. You should be OK to stay put through at least Saturday. -Pete M.
Lorrie, you are correct. Irene ended up making landfall over New York City. So we know from experience that an NYC landfall still means big impacts for Rhode Island and southern Mass. -Pete M.
