Tough morning for Gina Raimondo in the Projo

December 13th, 2012 at 10:39 am by under Nesi's Notes, On the Main Site

The Providence Journal ran two big stories above the fold Thursday that have to be causing Treasurer Gina Raimondo’s staff members some heartburn this morning.

The first is “Texas billionaire gave to advocacy group” by investigative reporter Mike Stanton, who adds more detail to The Wall Street Journal’s revelation and my follow-up post on Tuesday about the Texas billionaire tied to Engage Rhode Island.

The second is “Raimondo says travel part of treasurer’s job” by State House bureau chief Katherine Gregg, which reports Raimondo has spent 53 days out of state since taking office and suggests she’s being less transparent about her travels than her predecessor.

Also on the pension beat, today is a big day for the city of Providence – the police union will vote this afternoon on whether to accept the pension settlement with Mayor Taveras, a key test of his decision to negotiate a deal.

If the people of Rhode Island don’t stop electing the same clowns to office each election, Rhode Island real estate and government will become a value play for people with wealth. When this individual from Houston put up $100K for this advocacy group, he is looking to buy something. What he wants to buy we don’t know. How Rhode Island is going he could buy Central Falls for a couple of hundred thousand dollars and then elminate the squatters, aka (residents).

      It’s called special interest …..

Houston is saying Gina is special, and we have interest.

Just remember what I have posted in the past. The $50.00 an hr lawyer…….You can’t get a lawyer that cheap to handle a speeding ticket.

Smoke another pack. Is that something you left out of that SORE LOSERS speech you gave Rhode Islanders in November ?

      3. Rich says:

Marlboro man, the public sector unions are a special interest, deal with it. It just means now the big boys are going to play on the field and all the greasy punks from Rhode Island are going to have to go back to sand lots around Fields Point.

      4. We're Doing God's Work says:

Greasy Wall Streeters like Gina, Riley, and Rich are just peas in a pod, MM.

        Don’t worry about them.

They’ll be first against the wall.
