Wait until sequester hits NUWC. 2500 contractor getting laid of. And being caught up in it and having to file unemployment for the first time ever, I am skeptical about the condition of this State’s economy.

The federal furloughs will have a significant impact on the state with a 20% short term pay cut and a 12% long term cut but the media has missed the huge cuts to government contractors. The furloughs only save $5B of the $46B in defense cuts so where will the rest of the savings come from … mostly contractors. Expect a large number of NUWC contractor layoffs to start this month. With contractors not sending out WARN notices, a lot of folks will be shocked when they are let go.
