If your going to raise taxes on the rich, you better make sure there not a flight risk. Jeeez, People with a lot less have left due to taxes, what do you think the rich will do. I’m not an economis by any stretch, but. Think about it. We need people who want to live and work and conduct buisness here.

labor unions have never seen a tax they didn’t approve of.

    1. Mr. Fish says:

except the property tax, meals tax, transportation tax, tolls, tuition, most user fees. Oh yeah…those..but you were saying? Sorry, I interrupted your uninformed rant about something you knew nothing about. Go on….

I don’t think they’re particular where the money comes from it’s where the money goes that is the point. Into the hands of any loser with their hand out. Liberals and unions a natural coalition to drain what is left of the life’s blood out of this sewer of a political subdivision called Rhode Island.

      1. Matt says:

Cosmo well said, Fish is nothing but a leach. He could not get the money for the job he does in the public sectorin the private sector.

  3. lost in ri says:

you raise the tax rate on someone that makes $1 million per year by 2%.

    thats a cost of $20,000.
    will someone move for that???

    maybe.

    most retirees probably would.

do you wnat to take that chance. they could own a business with several employees.

      1. Cosmo says:

Good try John, no sale. To quote from the article “…people move for far more compelling reasons, like jobs, the cost of housing, family ties or a warmer climate.” Rhode Island, no jobs, high cost of housing, high property taxes and a cold climate. So higher state taxes very well might be the thing that pushes people out of the state.

Gov’t unions are pigs at an emptying trough. They’re getting desperate. Soon they will be raiding our sofas for loose change.

    1. Cosmo says:

LOL that’s a good one. They’re already hurting us where we sit, so I guess the sofa change will be the next step.

  5. sifma says:

    Hey John

WE MOVED. Car tax, potential return of huge payments that need to be made to gross up under funded pensions now that Chafee has wimped out again on “arbitrators” are weighing in ( wink, wink ), also elimination of itemizing meant even our contributions to charity were fully taxable, estate tax too was a factor. Seriously. Those that can afford to will go over the border. Its not that hard, they buy gas there already….
