City wants to strip weightlifting disabled firefighter’s pension

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The Providence Retirement Board is again attempting to strip retired firefighter John Sauro of his tax-free accidental-disability pension, more than two years after he was caught on camera partaking in a vigorous weightlifting routine.

    Gee, I wonder why there’s tension between taxpayers and municipal employees.

      because he is a scumbag, who took all kinds of disability insurance for his new corvette/Harley Davidson, and new house in Narragansett then blatantly took the pension by waiting till the chief walked by then fell backwards in a chair in front of him, and got a 6% compounded disability( wish I could get a 6% pay raise EVERY yr!)He IS the problem with the pension system!!!

    The people that abuse of our safety net programs are stealing from the people that really need the programs. The money that funds these programs dose not come from HEAVEN but taxpayers. There are limitations on what we can spend on them and this abuse will restrict the people that really need them.

    I find it very offensive as a taxpayer to see this individual still collecting,he should have been charged as a criminal.Insurance fraud. Seems like the union just accepts this behavior as status quo.
