Blue Cross, older enrollees dominate HealthSource RI; 30 hired

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Rhode Island’s new Obamacare insurance marketplace, HealthSource RI, said Monday nearly 10,000 people have enrolled in private plans and paid their first premiums, with the vast majority choosing a federally subsidized plan from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

Christine Ferguson, HealthSource RI’s executive director, called the enrollment numbers “a good, solid beginning” but acknowledged the wait times for people to reach its call center are still “too high.” The agency is bringing on roughly 30 additional employees to handle the volume, she said.

  2. Here we go again… Load up with Friends and Family. What are these people going to do when Obamacare is defunded? Probably tranfer to the Dept. of Administration or the DOT… The States ‘Graveyard’ for retired and useless employees.
