EYEWITNESS NEWS on WPRI 12 #1 at 11pm
For the first time since 1993, Eyewitness News at 11 on WPRI 12 was the #1 newscast in Rhode Island in the November 2009 ratings period. Also in November, Eyewitness News at 6pm had a terrific sweep, finishing closer to WJAR than at any time since November 1992. Over the past several years, Eyewitness News at 11 on WPRI 12 has had the largest
growth of all the late, local newscasts.
“There’s been a lot of change in the local television market,” says Jay Howell, President/General Manager of WPRI 12, Fox Providence, and myRITV. “While other stations have been cutting back, our commitment to covering local news for the viewers
of Southeastern New England is stronger than ever. We’re hearing from more and more
viewers who’ve noticed that commitment and made the switch to Eyewitness News.”
According to News Director Joe Abouzeid, “when we say we’re ‘coverage you can count on,’ we mean it. It’s not just a slogan. It’s a promise to our viewers that they can rely on us to cover the news and stories that matter most to them. We are committed to providing this very important service to our viewers, and we’re glad that more people are watching than ever before.”
Eyewitness News at 11 on WPRI 12 is anchored by Karen Adams and Mike Montecalvo, along with Chief Meteorologist Tony Petrarca and Sports Director Patrick Little.
